Fall Equinox: Harvest, Release & A Little Venus in Scorpio Plot Twist

September 22, 2026, brings us the Fall Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere—and to me, this is when the energy of harvest season really begins to settle in.

And honestly? I love this time of year.

Here in Michigan, Mother Nature starts putting on her annual art show. The mornings get a little crisper, the days begin getting shorter, and suddenly everywhere you look there are reminders that we are moving into another season.

Apple orchards. Apple cider. Hay mazes. Pumpkins. Acorn squash. Cornfields. Farmers markets. Bonfires. Leaves changing.

There is something deliciously nostalgic about it all.

But this year there is an interesting little plot twist hiding underneath the pumpkin spice...

Enter Venus in Scorpio.

Venus entered Scorpio on September 10 and will remain there through October 25, bringing astrology's planet of love, pleasure, relationships, beauty, values, and money into one of the zodiac's deepest and most intense signs. (Cafe Astrology)

And suddenly our Fall Equinox harvest gets a little...

Naughty Mystic.

Because Scorpio doesn't really do surface level.

Scorpio wants to know what is underneath.

What is beneath the pretty leaves?

What is beneath the apple skin?

What is underneath the relationship?

What is underneath the desire?

What is underneath the story you've been telling yourself?

And maybe that's exactly where the magic of this year's harvest lives.

What Are You REALLY Harvesting?

We usually think of harvest as something tangible.

You plant a seed.

You water it.

You nurture it.

You wait.

Eventually, something comes out of the ground.

But what if you've been doing the same thing with your life?

You've been planting ideas.

Growing relationships.

Learning lessons.

Trying new things.

Surviving things you didn't think you would survive.

Changing.

Healing.

Loving.

Losing.

Beginning again.

And now the Equinox arrives and asks:

So...what did all that growing produce?

Venus in Scorpio adds another question:

And are you willing to be completely honest about it?

Ooooh.

There it is.

Love Gets Deeper

Venus in Scorpio isn't particularly interested in the polite version of love.

Astrologically, this placement is associated with intensity, intimacy, vulnerability, trust, passion, and getting beneath the surface of relationships. (Cafe Astrology)

That doesn't mean every relationship suddenly becomes dramatic or that something mysterious is destined to happen.

Instead, think of it as an invitation to examine what depth actually means to you.

Are you craving more honesty?

More intimacy?

More emotional connection?

More physical connection?

More trust?

More freedom to be completely yourself?

Or perhaps you're realizing that something you've been holding onto no longer feels authentic.

And that's where Scorpio gets interesting.

Because sometimes harvesting means keeping something.

And sometimes...

harvesting means knowing when it's time to let something go.

The Trees Already Know

Look at the trees.

They don't spend autumn desperately trying to hold onto every leaf.

They don't say:

"But I've had this leaf since spring!"

They simply recognize that the season has changed.

The leaf has done its job.

Release.

Fall.

Return to the earth.

Become nourishment for something that hasn't even grown yet.

That is some seriously badass natural wisdom.

And perhaps Venus in Scorpio is asking us to do something similar with our emotional lives.

What has served its purpose?

What are you still holding because you're afraid of what happens when you release it?

Where are you confusing attachment with love?

Where are you craving deeper intimacy—with yourself or someone else?

What desires have you buried because they felt too vulnerable, too complicated, too taboo, or simply too honest?

Now we're getting somewhere.

The Shadow Side of the Harvest

Scorpio also reminds us that harvest isn't always pretty.

Sometimes you discover weeds.

Sometimes something you planted didn't grow.

Sometimes the relationship you thought would last didn't.

Sometimes the dream changed.

Sometimes you realize you have been feeding something that no longer feeds you.

And sometimes the biggest harvest is the realization:

"I don't want this anymore."

That can be incredibly powerful.

Not because something went wrong.

But because you finally became honest enough with yourself to recognize what needs to change.

Your Fall Equinox + Venus in Scorpio Ritual

This year, grab your journal, take a walk outside, visit an apple orchard, sit beneath a tree, or pour yourself a cup of cider.

Then ask yourself:

What am I harvesting?

What have I created, learned, experienced, or grown this year?

What am I loving?

What relationships, experiences, people, places, or parts of myself deserve more attention?

What wants to go deeper?

Where am I craving greater honesty, intimacy, passion, creativity, or connection?

What am I releasing?

What has completed its purpose?

What desire have I been hiding?

What do I want that I haven't allowed myself to admit?

What am I preparing to grow next?

Because the beautiful thing about harvest is that it isn't the end.

It is part of the cycle.

The apples fall.

The leaves fall.

The garden goes quiet.

The soil rests.

And underneath all that apparent stillness, something is preparing for another season.

So this Fall Equinox, enjoy your apple cider.

Wander through the hay maze.

Eat the acorn squash.

Crunch through the leaves.

Take the ridiculously beautiful autumn pictures.

But also take a moment to look beneath the surface.

Because with Venus in Scorpio, this year's harvest might not just be about what you can see.

It may be about what you're finally willing to feel, acknowledge, desire, transform, and release.

And if that isn't a little bit of Naughty Mystic magic, I don't know what is.

Happy Fall Equinox.

May your harvest be abundant...

May your release be intentional...

And may your desires be just a little bit naughty.

And I especially love the ending: “May your harvest be abundant, your release intentional, and your desires just a little bit naughty.”
